How to inspect LED lamps?

I. Visual Inspection on LED Lamps

Appearance requirements: By visual inspection on shell and cover about 0.5m away from the lamp, there is no deformation, scratch, abrasion, paint removed and dirt; contact pins are not deformed; fluorescent tube is not loose and there is no abnormal sound.

Dimensional requirements: Outline dimensions shall meet the requirements on drawing.

Material requirements: The materials and structure of lamp shall meet the requirements on drawing.

Assembly requirements: Tightening screws on surface of lamp shall be tightened without omission; there is no burr or sharp edge; all connections shall be firm and not loose.

II. Requirements on the Performance of LED Lamps

LED lamps need good cooling system. To guarantee normal work of LED lamps, the temperature of aluminum-based circuit board shall not be higher than 65℃.

LED lamps shall have function of over-temperature protection.

LED lamps controls abnormal circuit and must have fusing device with 3C, UL or VDE certification for overcurrent protection in case of abnormal circuit.

LED lamps shall be able to resist abnormity. In other words, each LED series is driven by independent constant current power supply. In case of short circuit caused by LED breakdown, the constant current power supply shall guarantee safe work of the circuit with stable current.

LED lamps shall be damp-proof and able to remove dampness and breathe. Internal circuit board of the LED lamps must be damp-proof and ventilative with breathing device. If the LED lamps are affected with damp, they shall still work stably and remove dampness depending on the heat they produce during work.

The ratio between total downward flux and energy consumption of LED lamps is ≥56LMW.

III. Site Test on LED Lamps

1. Switching life test

At rated voltage and rated frequency, LED lamps work for 60 seconds and then stop working for 60 seconds, which circulates for 5000 times, fluorescent lamps can still work normally.

2. Durability test

In the environment without air convection at temperature 60℃±3℃ and maximum relative humidity 60%, LED lamps work for 360 hours continuously at rated voltage and rated frequency. Their luminous flux shall not be less than 85% initial luminous flux after that.

3. Overvoltage protection

In overvoltage protection at input end, if input voltage is 1.2 rated value, overvoltage protection device shall be activated; after the voltage recovers to be normal, LED lamps shall also recover.

4. High temperature and low temperature test

Test temperature is -25℃ and +40℃. Test duration is 96±2 hours.

-High temperature test

Unpacked test samples charged with electricity at room temperature are put into test chamber. Adjust temperature in the chamber to be (40±3)℃. The samples at rated voltage and rated frequency work for 96 hours continuously at the temperature (the duration shall start from the time that temperature becomes stable). Then cut off the power supply of the chamber, take out the samples and keep them at room temperature for 2 hours.

-Low temperature test

Unpacked test samples charged with electricity at room temperature are put into test chamber. Adjust temperature in the chamber to be (-25±3)℃. The samples at rated voltage and rated frequency work for 96 hours continuously at the temperature (the duration shall start from the time that temperature becomes stable). Then cut off the power supply of the chamber, take out the samples and keep them at room temperature for 2 hours.

Test result judgment

Appearance and structure of the LED lamps shall have no obvious change in visual inspection. The average illumination in the last test shall not be lower than 95% average illumination in the first test; the deviation between the area of illumination rectangle after test and initial area of illumination rectangle shall not be larger than 10%; the deviation of length or width of the rectangle shall not be larger than 5%; the deviation of angle between length and width of the rectangle shall not be larger than 5°.

5. Free fall test

Uncharged test samples with complete package at height 2m fall freely for 8 times. They fall for 2 times in respective 4 different directions.

The samples after test shall not be damaged and fasteners shall not be loose or fall off; in addition, functions of the samples shall be normal.

6. Integrating sphere test

Luminous flux refers to the power of radiation human eyes can sense. It equals to the product of radiation energy at a wave band in unit time and relative visibility at the wave band. Symbol Φ (or Φr) signifies luminous flux; unit of luminous flux is lm (lumen).

a.Luminous flux is luminous intensity that reaches, leaves or passes curved surface per unit time.

b.Luminous flux is the ratio of light emitted from bulb.

-Color rendering index (Ra)

ra is color rendering index. For quantitative evaluation on the color rendering of light source, the concept of color rendering index is introduced. Define the color rendering index of standard light source to be 100; color rendering index of other light sources is lower than 100. Objects show their real color under sunlight and incandescent light. Under gaseous discharge lamp with discontinuous spectrum, color will distort in different degrees. The degree of real color presentation of light source is called color rendering of light source. Average color rendering index of 15 common colors is signified by Re.

-Color temperature: a measurement unit that contains color in ray of light. In theory, temperature of black body means the color of absolute black body presented from absolute zero degree (273℃) to higher temperature after it is heated. After black body is heated, its color changes from black to red, yellow, then white and finally blue. After black body is heated to be at certain temperature, the spectral component contained in the light emitted by black body is called the color temperature at the temperature. The measurement unit is “K” (Kelvin).

If the spectral component contained in the light emitted by a light source is same as that of light emitted by a black body at certain temperature, it is called *K color temperature. For example, the color of light of 100W bulb is same as that of absolute black body at temperature 2527℃. Color temperature of the light emitted by the bulb will be: (2527+273)K=2800K.

IV. LED Lamps Packing Test

1.The packing paper material used shall be correct. The pack used must pass free fall test.

2.The print on outer pack shall be correct, including main mask, side mark, order number, net weight, gross weight, model number, material, box number, model drawing, place of origin, company name, address, frangibility symbol, UP symbol, moisture protection symbol etc. Printed font and color shall be correct; characters and figures shall be clear without ghost image. Color of whole batch shall match color palette; obvious chromatic aberration in whole batch shall be avoided.

3.All dimensions shall be correct: <length*width*height> error ±1/4 inch; line pressing shall be correct and closed completely. Guarantee accurate materials.

4.Bar code shall be clear and meet requirements for scanning.
