Inspection Standard and Method for Fixed Fitness Equipment

1. Inspection for External Structure of Fixed Fitness Equipment

1.1Edge

Inspect all edges and sharp corner on the surface of each supporting of the fitness equipment according to size test and contact inspection, and the radius shall be not greater than 2.5mm. All other edges those are accessible to user or spare parts provided by the third party shall be rounded or protected specially.

1.2Pipe End

The accessible pipe end shall be sealed by spare parts of the equipment or pipe plug when test it according to visual check. After passing the loaded durability test specified by the applicable and relevant parts in special standards, the pipe plug shall keep in the original status.

1.3Extruding, Cutting, Rotating and Reciprocating Part in Accessible Area

The distance of moving parts to adjacent moving parts or fixed parts in the accessible area within the height range of 1800mm shall be not lower than 60mm according to size test and visual inspection, but the following conditions are not included:

a)If it only threatens figures, the distance shall be not lower than 25mm;

b)If the distance between moving parts and fixed parts keeps constant during moving, then the distance shall be not greater than 9.5mm;

c)The proper safety protection facility and stop device are equipped in the training area;

d)If the user’s body can block the access of third person, the user can immediately stop action.

1.4Weight

The moving range of all weights on fitness equipment shall be limited according to visual inspection, operation testing and requirement when using the equipment.

Except for deliberately moving, the stacking weight can flexibly move and return to the dead point.

2.Access and Arming Mechanism of Fixed Fitness Equipment

Inspection Method:

Adjust the equipment based on testing personnel’s body size according to the Manual provided by manufacturer.

Testing personnel shall enter into the equipment and reach the starting position of moving according to the requirement in Operation Manual provided by manufacturer.

Testing personal shall relatively and loosely enter and return to the starting position.

If testing personnel cannot bench or contact to the auxiliary mechanism or testing personnel cannot successfully enter into the starting position of moving, the equipment needs to be further adjusted.

If not in this case (the equipment has been properly adjusted according to the body size of testing personal provided by Operation Manual), then auxiliary means or auxiliary mechanism for bench exercise alongside the bench travel shall be provided.

If one auxiliary means has been provided, then operation mechanism and its performance shall be consistent with the description in Operation Manual.

When completing exercise and returning the bench or auxiliary mechanism back to the rest position, the auxiliary means or auxiliary mechanism shall be used to drive it and stop bench before reaching unloaded rest position, so as to make user exit from the loaded use position.

Inspection standard: if the user cannot reach the loaded starting position of the equipment (after adjusting the equipment according to the manual of manufacturer), the auxiliary device shall be provided for the equipment, for example: pedal or lever is adopted to adjust the starting/stopping position.

3.Adjusting and Locking Mechanism of Fixed Fitness Equipment

When testing it according to visual inspection and operation testing, the adjusting device on fitness equipment shall act reliably, can be recognized easily and used safely and shall no possibility of negligence or changes. The adjusting parts (such as knob/button and handle/control lever etc.) shall not intervene the user’s moving range each other. The correct function of any locking mechanism shall be noticeable. The weight pin shall be equipped with one fastness device to prevent loosing when exercising caused by negligence or changes.

4.Cable, Belt and Chain of Fixed Fitness Equipment

The cable, belt, chain and its additional devices shall have the efficient safety coefficients, and their tensile force for resisting damage shall be 6 times of maximum load generated during its use. The diameter of the pulley shall conform to applicable requirements of cable, belt or chain manufacturer.

4.1Steel Wire Rope and Pulley

The standard steel wire rope shall be made of galvanized or anti-corrosive steel wire, and proved and tested by manufacturer.

Pulley size and shape shall conform to the applicable requirement for diameter and groove of cable, belt and chain manufacturer as well as the standard of loaded durability test:

The test that close to normal moving frequency as far as possible and no impact shall be carried out:

a)H type, larger than 80%, 12000 times of allowable moving travel;

b) S type, larger than 80%, 100000 times of allowable moving travel;

Adopt the maximum load;

The load direction shall be consistent with moving law confirmed by 50% personnel;

The moving frequency shall take the average value of test for 3-person advance loaded exercise.

The rope band of wrought aluminum alloy shall be manufactured according to ISO8793. The rope end shall exceed +20mm of the level of the clamp edge, and shall be clear and visible when testing it according to visual inspection. The compressed contact shall not bend and the fixed end of steel wire rope shall be only installed behind the hood or other similar protection device.

4.2Cable and Belt Control

When testing it according to visual inspection and operation testing, the guiding device through the rope or belt shall prevent the rope or belt laterally loosing or falling.

5.Lead-in Point Test of Fixed Fitness Equipment

The lead-in point in rope or belt driving device within the height up to 1800mm shall protect the user’s figures to prevent being clamped.

6.Inspection for Holding Position of Fixed Fitness Equipment

When testing it according to visual inspection, the integrated handle set shall be clearly engraved/marked with the holding position and on textural surface to prevent hands sliding.

Discreetly apply 70N of force on the handle set through a proper draw-off gear, and the external handle set shall not move.

When testing it according to visual inspection and operation testing, the rotatory handle set shall adopt mechanical locking device for protection, and shall have the textural surface to prevent hands sliding.
