Job Responsibilities of Quality Inspector

Early Workflow

1. Colleagues on business trips shall contact the factory at least one day before departure to avoid the situation that there is no goods to inspect or the person in charge is not in the factory.

2. Take a camera and make sure there is enough power, and take business card, tape measure, handmade knife, small amount of sealing plastic bag (for packing and handling) and other supplies.

3. Read the notice of delivery (inspection data) and previous inspection reports, signing and other relevant information carefully. If there is any doubt, it must be solved before inspection.

4. Colleagues on business trips must know the traffic route and weather condition before departure.

Arriving at the host factory or unit

1. Call colleagues at work to inform them of arrival.

2. Before formal inspection, we shall understand the situation of the order first, e.g. has the whole batch of goods been completed?   If the whole batch is not completed, how much have been completed? How many finished products have been packed? Is the unfinished work being done? (If the actual quantity is different from the information notified by the issuing colleague, please call the company to report), if the goods are in production, it must also go to see the production process, try to find out the problem in the production process, inform the factory and ask for improvement. When will the rest be completed?  In addition, the completed goods must be photographed and viewed as stacked and counted (number of cases/number of cards). Attention shall be paid to that this information shall be written on the remarks of the inspection report.

3. Use the camera to take photos and check whether the shipping mark and packing condition are the same as the requirements of the notice of delivery. If there is no packing, ask the factory whether the carton is in place.  If the carton has arrived, (check the shipping mark, size, quality, cleanliness and color of the carton even if it has not been packed, but it is best to ask the factory to arrange to pack one carton for our inspection); if the carton has not arrived, we shall know when it will arrive.

4. The weight (gross weight) of the goods shall be weighed and the dimensions of the container shall be measured to see if they conform to the printed notice of delivery.

5. The specific packing information must be filled in the inspection report, e.g. how many (pcs.) are in one inner box (middle box), and how many (pcs.) are in one outer box (50 pcs./inner box, 300 pcs./outer box).   In addition, has the carton been packed with at least two straps? Fasten the outer box and seal it up and down with "I-shape" sealing tape.

6. After sending the report and returning to the company, all the colleagues on business trip must call the company to inform and confirm receipt of the report and inform the colleagues when they plan to leave the factory.

7. Follow the instructions to conduct the drop test.

8. Check whether the outer box is damaged, whether the inner box (middle box) is a four-page box, and check that the compartment card in the inner box cannot have any mixed color, and it shall be white or gray.

9. Check whether the product is damaged.

10. Carry out spot check for the goods according to the quantity indication of standard (usually AQL standard).

11. Take photos of the product conditions, including defective products and the condition on the production line.

12. Check whether the goods and signing are consistent with the relevant requirements, such as product color, trademark color and position, size, appearance, product surface treatment effect (such as no scratch marks, stains), product functions, etc. Please pay special attention to that (a) the effect of silk screen trademark shall have no broken words, drag silk, etc., test the silk screen with adhesive paper to see if the color will fade, and the trademark must be complete; (b) the color surface of the product shall not fade or be easy to fade.

13. Check whether the color packing box is damaged, whether there is no crease wear, and whether the printing effect is good and consistent with the proofing.

14. Check whether the goods are made of new materials, non-toxic raw materials and non-toxic ink.

15. Check whether the parts of the goods are installed properly and in place, not easy to loose or fall off.

16. Check whether the function and operation of the goods are normal.

17. Check whether there are burrs on the goods and there shall be no raw edges or sharp corners, which will cut hands.

18. Check the cleanliness of goods and cartons (including color packing boxes, paper cards, plastic bags, adhesive sticker, bubble bags, instructions, foaming agent, etc.).

19. Check that goods are in good condition and in good storage condition.

20. Take the required number of shipment samples immediately as instructed on the notice of delivery, fasten them, and representative defective parts must be taken along with them (very important).

21. After filling in the inspection report, tell the other party about it together with the defective products, and then ask the person in charge of the other party to sign and write the date.

22. If the goods are found to be in poor condition (there is a high probability that the goods are unqualified) or the company has received a notice that the goods are unqualified and need to be reworked, the colleagues on business trip shall immediately ask the factory on site about the rework arrangement and when the goods can be turned over, and then reply to the company.

Later Work

1. Download the photos and send an email to the relevant colleagues, including a simple explanation of each picture.

2. Sort out the samples, label them and arrange to send them to the company on the same day or next day.

3. File the original inspection report.

4. If a colleague on a business trip is too late to return to the company, he shall call his immediate superior and explain his work.
